The Oral Fluid HIV-1 Microelisa System is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the qualitative detection of antibodies to Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) in human specimens collected as oral fluid specimens obtained with OraSure® HIV-1 Oral Specimen Collection Device. The Oral Fluid HIV-1 Microelisa System is intended for use as an aid in diagnosis of infection with HIV-1. It is not intended for use in screening blood donors. This assay also has a capacity to be adapted for the incidence test, which is now becoming an important part of seroepidemiology testing worldwide.
The product was developed as a standard two-step indirect Microelisa system assay. The system contains coated 96 well microelisa plates, color coded reagents, liquid controls, and a ready to use substrate. The sample diluent contains sample addition monitoring to allow visualization of color change with sample addition to microwells.
